Otway Odyssey 2024

Published Fri 01 Mar 2024

The Club had a huge turnout at the 2024 Otway Odyssey in Forrest. The tagline of the event is 'Where legends are forged', and the Warrandyte crew did not disappoint, with many of our members putting in epic performances.

Of particular legendary note were the 12 Dirt Devils who braved the 30km course and the two younger siblings who challenged themselves over the 10km course. Massive congrats to Lee, Samson, Spencer, Rueben, Fynn, Owen, Jack, Lucas, Rhys, Max, Alex, Lachie, Freya and Arlo! If these little shredders are any indication, the Club has a very bright future to look forward to.

A special mention goes out to Shane Drieberg for his tireless efforts and enthusiasm in preparing the Dirt Devils for this event, as well as Dirt Devils assistants Stephen Giblett and Angelo Marasco. Many people throughout the weekend – including the race organiser at the start line of the 30km – commented on the impressive turnout and spirit of the Warrandyte juniors. A big pat on the back to everyone who helped them get there, including those behind the scenes!

Our women also made their mark at the event, with two out of three competitors on the women's 50km podium being Warrandyte members – congrats to Ruby Taylor (1st) and Katriina Dower (3rd). Also contributing to the medal tally were Shelley Knowles (1st in category for the 100km), Adrienne Hilton (2nd in category for the 30km), Tami Iseli (3rd in category for the 30km), Shelley Knowles (1st in category and 3rd overall in the 97km Gravel Grind), Ruby Taylor (1st overall in the 49km Gravel Grind) and Sophie Mancey-Jones (2nd in category for the 49km Gravel Grind).

Congrats to the many other members who put in solid performances flying the flag for Warrandyte. It was a fantastic weekend and we look forward to doing it all again next year!
